IWPG Successfully Concludes Preliminary Round of International Loving-Peace Art Competition with Palestinian Children
The International Women’s Peace Group (IWPG) Global Region 2 recently held the preliminary round of the 7th International Loving-Peace Art Competition in Palestine, in collaboration with the Jasmen Association for the Empowerment and Advancement of Women in Jerusalem.
Held under the theme “What I (We) Can Do to Achieve Peace,” the event took place at the Khalil Al Sakakini Cultural Center, where more than 20 local children and youth participated. Despite ongoing war and conflict, the participants expressed their genuine messages of peace and envisioned a hopeful future through their drawings.
Hosted annually by IWPG, the International Loving-Peace Art Competition provides children and teenagers around the world with a platform to imagine and express a peaceful world through art. The competition aims to raise awareness about the need to end war and spread a culture of peace by delivering heartfelt messages across the globe. It is held each year in major cities worldwide.
One young participant said, “Peace is a world where everyone is friends and can smile together. I hope my drawing can bring that feeling to someone.”
Members of the Peace Committee, composed of peace activists from the Palestinian region, also attended the event and added significance to the occasion. Peace Committee representative Jehad Qasem stated, “I was deeply touched to see young people thinking about the meaning of peace and expressing it creatively. In places where conflict continues, it is even more essential to speak about peace through art and education.”
Looking ahead, IWPG Global Region 2 plans to expand its global peace-related education and cultural projects in partnership with international women’s organizations and educational institutions.
Meanwhile, IWPG is a global women’s NGO registered with both the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and the UN Department of Global Communications (DGC), headquartered in Seoul, South Korea. With 115 branches in 122 countries and partnerships with over 800 organizations in 68 countries, IWPG actively promotes peace under its vision of “Realizing Sustainable World Peace.” The organization is dedicated to expanding global solidarity, spreading a culture of peace, providing women’s peace education, and advocating for the legislation of the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW).
