On June 21, the International Women’s Peace Group (IWPG) Global Region 1, led by Director Jeon Na-hyung, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) online with the Nigerian NGO Kids and Teens Resources Center, represented by Martin Mary Falana, to establish a peace education system.

Kids and Teens Resources Center is an NGO officially registered with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) that supports and promotes the activities of governments and stakeholders for the development of children and youth.

During the signing ceremony, moderated by IWPG Washington D.C. Branch Director Chikodili Deborah Equazo, the two organizations agreed to:
▲ Provide women’s peace education content and curriculum
▲ Dispatch lecturers and support program operations
▲ Issue certificates and establish follow-up activity systems
▲ Share guidelines for forming peace committees
▲ Cooperate in international publicity efforts.

Martin Mary Falana, the representative of Kids and Teens Resources Center, stated, “I’m very pleased to sign this MoU, and I firmly believe that this collaboration carries great significance for world peace. I look forward to spreading peace to more women and making meaningful change in the world.”

Jeon Na-hyung, IWPG Global Region 1 Director, commented, “It is very meaningful to sign this MoU with Kids and Teens Resources Center, as we share a common vision. I hope that the cooperation between our two organizations will grow into a strong partnership and expand as an international model of peace.”

Immediately following the signing ceremony, an orientation session for the Peace Lecturer Training Education (PLTE) program was held.

In her congratulatory remarks, Amhebety, a graduate of Nigeria’s PLTE 25-1-1 cohort and Chair of the Peace Committee, stated, “Peace education helps us understand the root causes of conflict and provides solutions. This program will bring positive change not only to individuals but also to families and communities.” She added, “Please remember that peace begins with you, and I encourage you to complete this course with commitment.”

The Nigerian women participating in PLTE will undergo a 10-session peace education program designed for global female leaders. Upon completion, they are expected to become peace lecturers capable of promoting and practicing peace within their communities.

Meanwhile, IWPG is an international women’s NGO registered with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and the Department of Global Communications (DGC). With the solidarity of 4 billion women worldwide, IWPG carries out various initiatives to realize peace, including advocating for the legalization of the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW) and providing women’s peace education programs.
