IWPG Global Region 2 signs MOU for peace content creation with Yemenite women’s media organization

International Women’s Peace Group (IWPG) Global Region 2 (Regional Director Seo Yeon Lee) recently signed an MOU for peace content creation and media networking with Women’s Media for Peace (President Ekram Saad Al-Akori ), a Yemenite women’s media organization.

Women’s Media for Peace is a German feminist media platform of more than 100 female journalists, with headquarters in İstanbul Başakşehir, Türkiye. The platform is contributing to creating public dialogue that brings positive social transformation in women’s rights, social justice, and peace.

Through this partnership, the two organizations agreed to report IWPG’s peace events, promote the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW), create content on International Women’s Peace Day and Women’s Peace Education, share knowledge, and networks, along with various other specific action items to spread a culture of peace.

President Ekram Saad Al-Akori said, “Middle East women were forced to stay silent during war and violence, but now they can raise their voices. This partnership will become a very important milestone to support the solidarity of female journalists and the freedom of press.”

Regional Director Seo Yeon Lee said, “The role of female journalists is not just to spread information but to become true peace messengers that can bring social change. IWPG will continue to spread the message of peace with female Yemenite journalists.”

Both organizations will leverage this partnership to publish regular articles on peace, jointly plan discussions on peace overcoming conflict and discrimination, and present cases of female peace movements.

IWPG is an international women’s NGO registered in UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and Department of Global Communications (DGC). With headquarters in the Republic of Korea, it has 115 branches in 122 countries and 800 partner organizations in 68 countries.

Based on its vision of sustainable world peace, IWPG is building international solidarity, spreading a culture of peace, providing Women’s Peace Education, and advocating for the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW).
