The IWPG Sydney Branch hosted the preliminary round of the Loving-Peace Art Competition in collaboration with the Congolese community. Children enthusiastically expressed their vision of peace through art, creating colourful drawings depicting unity, love and a world without borders.
The competition provided a meaningful opportunity for children to explore the concept of peace and reflect on what it means to them. Participants proudly displayed their artwork, with themes including love, friendship, environmental care and global harmony.

The event strengthened the bond between IWPG Sydney and the Congolese community, opening pathways for continued collaboration around peace education for families and youth.
IWPG Sydney Branch had the honour of meeting Professor Jack Beetson, a respected First Nations elder and educator with decades of experience in adult literacy and community empowerment. The meeting opened a meaningful dialogue about shared values of peace, healing and reconciliation between cultures.
Professor Beetson shared his vision for community-led approaches to education and healing, with an emphasis on the importance of listening, mutual respect and restoring dignity to First Nations peoples. Both parties expressed enthusiasm for future collaboration in peace education initiatives.
This encounter deepened IWPG Sydney's commitment to First Nations partnership and to building bridges of understanding across Australia's diverse communities.
IWPG Sydney Branch connected with CEO Shafaq Jaffery and engaged in an important discussion on the multilateral approach to peace in the community. The meeting also featured a special address by Councillor Dr Diane Colman of Cumberland City Council, who shared insights on community leadership and the role of local government in fostering multicultural harmony.
The conversation highlighted the importance of cross-sector partnerships — between NGOs, government and community organisations — in creating sustainable peace at the grassroots level. IWPG Sydney looks forward to strengthening this collaboration through joint initiatives.
IWPG Sydney Branch members continued to build meaningful connections through informal networking and meet-up activities across the city. These gatherings provide a warm and welcoming space for women to share their experiences, discuss ideas and strengthen their commitment to peace in everyday life.
The meet-ups have been instrumental in expanding the branch's network and identifying new partnership opportunities with community leaders, organisations and individuals who share a passion for peace-building across Sydney's diverse communities.
