A MORE PEACEFUL WORLD

Seeing Peace Anew

Peace is created every day through the way people live, care, and relate to one another.
Yet many women’s experiences of peace remain unnamed, unrecognized, and unrecorded.

WHY PLACE?

PLACE invites women to discover these lived experiences through storytelling and dialogue, connecting them to one another and transforming them into shared memory and collective knowledge.

01

Recognition before Action

It begins with recognizing what already exists. Many experiences in our lives remain unnamed and unnoticed. When we begin to recognize the meaning within everyday moments, choices, and relationships, transformation begins.

02

Dialogue before Teaching

Understanding grows through dialogue. Meaning is not simply taught—it is discovered through conversation. By listening to stories different from our own, we gain new perspectives and deepen our understanding.

03

Discover before Defining

Peace is discovered before it is defined. It is not something we begin by defining, but something we discover through lived experience and storytelling. As these stories are shared and preserved, individual experiences become part of our shared memory and collective understanding.

WHAT MAKES PLACE DIFFERENT

A Different Way of Seeing Peace

PLACE does not begin by defining who is a peacebuilder. Instead, it invites people to discover the meaning of peace through their own lived experiences and everyday choices. When stories from different backgrounds and contexts come together, dialogue becomes richer, deeper, and more meaningful.

Rather than focusing only on activists or leaders, PLACE values the everyday experiences of all women. From the design of each dialogue, local realities and lived contexts are taken into account, allowing diverse voices to be heard. As these different stories meet, participants develop a broader understanding of peace and one another.

HOW PLACE WORKS

From Stories to Shared Learning

PLACE begins by inviting people to recall and share moments from their own lives. By listening to one another’s stories and engaging in dialogue, participants reflect on their experiences and discover new meanings of peace. Through this process, understanding grows, learning is shared, and each story becomes part of a living archive—a growing body of collective knowledge shaped by lived experience.
